The police have arrested two liquor smugglers from in the city and recovered 16 bottles of liquor and a scooter used for bootlegging from them.



Ludhiana: The police have arrested two liquor smugglers from in the city and recovered 16 bottles of liquor and a scooter used for bootlegging from them. Arvind Kumar was arrested from the T-point on Kali Sarak. He was carrying nine bottles of whisky. The police arrested Ajay Sharma of Harmeet Colony, near Chuharpur Road, near Sangam Palace Chowk on a tip-off that he was a liquor smuggler and was carrying liquor for sale on his scooter. Seven bottles of whisky were recovered from his possession. OC

Three booked for assault

Ludhiana: The police have booked three persons, Raju, his wife, both residents of Valmiki Colony in Gobindgarh village, and their accomplice Amit Kumar, a resident of the same village, under sections 324, 506 and 34 of the IPC for alleged assault on their neighbor Neeraj Kumar. The complainant said he was getting his submersible pump repaired when the suspects entered into an altercation with him on keeping the pipes in the street. He alleged that he and his father were abused and beaten up by the suspects. OC

Lockdown: 4 booked in Ludhiana

Ludhiana: The police have booked Gurpreet Singh of Police Lines, Paramjit Singh of Mall Enclave and Gurpreet Singh of Guru Nanakpura and Rajan Dhir of Dr Bindraban Road under sections 188 of the IPC for violation of prohibitory orders of lockdown. The police said they were roaming around at Kailash Chowk during curfew hours and they were not wearing masks. OC

Ludhiana: A webinar on a counselling session, “Handling exams anxiety successfully during the pandemic”, was organised for CA students by the Ludhiana branch of the Northern India Regional Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Jasminder Singh, former chairman, Ludhiana Branch, was the guest speaker, while Vipul Saboo was the motivational speaker.
