2 held with intoxicants

KHANNA: The Khanna police claimed to have arrested one person and recovered a huge quantity of intoxicants from his possession.

The Khanna police claimed to have arrested one person and recovered a huge quantity of intoxicants from his possession. The accused has been identified as Gurmeet Singh, a resident of Ghudani Kalan.

Khanna SSP Dhruv Dahiya said a police team was patrolling near T-point, Rara Sahib Road, Payal, when a person coming from Payal side was stopped on suspicion.

When searched, the police recovered 10,080 tablets of Lomotil (intoxicants) from him. The accused had allegedly brought this consignment from UP and was to sell it in the area. A case under Sections 22, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused.

In another incident, a police team laid a nakka at Main Chowk Rara Sahib, when a person coming from the Gurdwara Rara Sahib side was stopped on suspicion. The accused has been identified as Inderjit Singh, a resident of Katahari, near Payal. When searched, 500 tablets (intoxicants) were recovered from the possession of the accused. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act.
