2 Jharkhand residents held with 5.1-kg opium

KHANNA: The police have claimed to have recovered 5.1-kg opium from possession of two people.



Khanna, December 2

The police have claimed to have recovered 5.1-kg opium from possession of two people. The accused have been identified as Suman Kumar and Saurav Kumar, both residents of Jharkhand.

Khanna SP(I) Jasvir Singh informed that the police party led by DSP Jagwinder Singh and Manjit Singh, Incharge Narcotic Cell, were checking vehicles at a naka opposite Pristine Mall, GT Road, Khanna.

During the inspection cops witnessed two men coming from Gobindgarh Side on foot. The duo tried to flee but were nabbed. On searching them, cops recovered 5.1-kg opium from their bag.

A case under Sections 18/61/85 of the NDPS Act has been registered at police station Khanna. The SP the duo had brought this consignment from Jharkhand and travelled to Delhi on train. From Delhi they boarded a bus to deliver it in Ludhiana. — OC
