Two more persons have tested positive for dengue, taking the number of dengue patients this year to six. The two patients belong to Jagraon and Koomkalan Block.
Dr Ramesh, District Epidemiologist, said two patients from Ludhiana district had tested positive for dengue. “The number of positive patients till September was 17 in 2017 while this year it is six. The Health Department is taking all steps to disseminate information among the masses regarding precautions for dengue,” he said.
High-risk areas, such as Salem Tabri, Bahadur-ke-Road, Giaspura and areas near Jalandhar Bypass, are regularly visited by the staff of the department and educative material is distributed among people. He advised people should not let water stagnate near their houses and every Friday should be observed as a ‘dry day’ when water from the coolers should be emptied and water in pots changed. — TNS

High fever, headaches, joint pain, vomiting, skin rash, mild bleeding
Precautions
Coolers should be dried before you stop using them.
Mosquito repellent and creams should be used.
Anti-mosquito spray should be done daily, especially behind the curtains and below tables.
Water from pots kept in drawing rooms should be changed weekly.
Don’t keep utensil, pots, tyres, etc, uncovered on the roof top.
Don’t allow fresh water to accumulate near houses.
