2 smugglers’ assets worth Rs 1.57 cr frozen under Op Prahar
Action being viewed as a massive blow to drug traffickers’ network
The Khanna police had achieved another significant milestone under Operation Prahar-2.0 as it has frozen assets worth approximately Rs 1.57 crore belonging to two drug smugglers.
A report has been sent to the authorities concerned in New Delhi for further legal proceedings. The action is being viewed as a massive blow to the drug traffickers’ network.
Dr Darpan Ahluwalia, SSP, while providing details said Jasdev Singh, alias Jassa, a resident of Nagra Colony, Machhiwara, has four drug trafficking cases registered against him since 2015. Investigation revealed his long-term involvement in smuggling poppy husk, opium and heroin. Assets worth approximately Rs 1.27 crore, acquired through illegal drug proceeds, had been frozen. The other smuggler, Baljinder Singh, a resident of Dudhal Road, Malaud, arrested following a case registered on September 16, 2025, involving the smuggling of 54 kg of poppy husk.
Investigation uncovered assets worth approximately Rs 29.50 lakh built through the drug trade, which have now been frozen.
The SSP issued a stern warning, stating that drug traffickers would not be spared at any cost. She noted that there were clear directives from CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, DGP Gaurav Yadav and DIG, Ludhiana Range, Satinder Singh, to “break the back” of drug dealers to save Punjab’s youth.
She emphasised that the Khanna police were not limiting itself to just making arrests but were targeting illegal properties built from drug money to strike at the root of the crime.
