Ludhiana: The police have booked more than 20 persons for attacking a couple at the LIG flats.



Ludhiana: The police have booked more than 20 persons for attacking a couple at the LIG flats. One of the suspects has been identified as Charanjit Singh of Guru Arjan Dev Nagar. The complainant, Radhika Sood, told the police that on November 29, she and her husband were present at home when the Charanjit, along with his accomplices, barged into their house and attacked them with swords, sticks and baseball bats. She alleged that they were attacked due to some old enmity. The investigating officer, ASI Daljit Singh, said raids were on to nab the suspects. TNS

Contractor booked after worker’s death

Ludhiana: The Focal Point police have booked a contractor, Rahul, for showing negligence while engaging a labourer for the demolition of a lintel. The police have also booked the owner of the house, identified as Jaswinder Singh of Jamalpur. The complainant, Parmod Kumar, told the police that Rahul had engaged his brother Ganesh Kumar (19) for the demolition of a lintel but he was not provided with the required safety gear. He died after the lintel fell on him. The police have registered a case under Section 304 A, IPC, against the suspects. The incident was reported on Wednesday. TNS

Phone recovered from jail inmate

Ludhiana: A mobile phone was recovered from an inmate of the Central Jail here. The accused has been identified as Buta Khan. Assistant Jail Superintendent Parminder Singh said during a surprise check, a mobile phone was recovered from Buta who had concealed it in his undergarment. A case has been registered against him.
