Ludhiana, July 15
The Municipal Corporation launched a plantation drive along Buddha Nullah at Haibowal on Monday. The civic body planted 260 saplings along the nullah.
The drive was inaugurated in the presence of Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu, Commissioner Kanwalpreet Kaur Brar, councillors Rashi Aggarwal, Mamta Ashu and other officials.
Kirpal Singh of MC’s horticulture wing said they aim to plant over 3,000 saplings along the Buddha Nullah stretch under the jurisdiction of the civic body in the coming days.
Mayor Balkar Singh Sandhu said: “I want to make an appeal to everybody to take care of the planted saplings. There is a dire need to give proper care to saplings after the plantation is done.”
“We are also going to a conduct a plantation drive to mark the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. The plantation will be done in the outer wards, where space is available. Councillors will be encouraged to plant 550 plants in their respective ward,” he said.
