Ludhiana, July 15

Three persons lost money to ATM card cons. The police have registered FIRs against unknown persons. Footage of CCTV cameras of the ATM kiosks is being scanned by the police to identify the cons.

In first case, a complainant Anugrey Narayan, a resident of Bhagat Singh Colony, told the police that on March 26, he went to withdraw cash from an ATM. A man, who was already standing in the ATM kiosk, changed the ATM cards when he sought help from him. The con man later withdrew Rs 19,000 from his IDBI bank account.

In second case, Davinder Singh, a resident of Baba Deep Singh Nagar, told the police that on January 15, a man withdrew Rs 16,500 from his IDBI bank account, Sherpur branch, after fraudulently changing his ATM card.

In yet another case, Vandana Bharti, a resident of Sherpur Khurd, said he lost Rs 53,000 in a similar fraud on January 20.

The con men changed the ATM cards of their victims on the pretext of helping them to withdraw money from the machine. Most such cases reported earlier are lying “untraced” with the police.
