A rashly driven SUV killed three-year-old child outside Saraswati Model School at Civil Lines this afternoon. The driver, instead of taking the injured child to the hospital, fled the spot.

Deceased Baddit Srivastav

The deceased has been identified as Baddit Srivastav, son of Ravi Kumar, a resident of Inderprasth Nagar in Haibowal.

The investigating officer, ASI Iqbal Singh, in charge of Kailash police post, said the boy was a student of the playway section of the school. In the afternoon, when Baddit boarded a school auto-rickshaw for home, he suddenly alighted from it and in no time, a speeding SUV ran him over from behind. The boy fell unconscious on the road.

The ASI said the auto driver, who witnessed the accident, rushed the boy to the DMCH where the doctors declared him brought dead. The boy had suffered severe head injuries.

The police said the SUV number was PB10CF9522 and it was registered on the name of some Vishal, as per the details of the Vahan software. The police are now trying to identify the owner of the SUV or the driver who is responsible for the accident.

A case under section 304 A of the IPC has been registered against an unknown driver.
