31 cops who won Covid battle to donate plasma in Ludhiana

As many as 31 city police personnel, who have won the battle against coronavirus, have agreed to donate their blood plasma for the treatment of other infected patients.

While confirming the development, the Police Commissioner (CP), Ludhiana, Rakesh Agrawal, said, “Twenty-two policemen from the city contracted the virus on July 27. As many as 54 cops have tested positive till July 27. At present, the total active positive cases in the Ludhiana police are 76. So far, 31 officials have recovered and joined back their duties.”

When asked if any of cops expressed their willingness to donate plasma, the CP said, “All 31 police officials, who recovered, have already agreed to donate their plasma. It shows their solidarity with other persons, who are suffering from the disease.”

Dinesh Kumar, an ASI posted in the special branch, said he had recently recovered from Covid-19 and conveyed to the department that he was willing to donate his plasma so that infected persons could recover early.

26 more test +ve in a day

Another 26 employees of the Police Department tested corona positive today. Out of these 18 were posted in various branches of the CP Office, Ludhiana. Public has been advised not to visit the CP office for three more days. Residents can email their complaints at [email protected]. An SHO and three other policemen of Division No. 6 police station also tested positive for Covid today. Public dealing at this police station has been temporarily suspended for three days. People residing under Police division No. 6 can approach to the Shimlapuri Ludhiana police station for their emergency works. Police Commissioner Rakesh Agrawal today interacted with corona positive cops through video conferencing.

Minimal presence of policemen on roads

After sudden rise of Covid-19 positive cases among cops, the presence of policemen has been reduced for precautionary purposes. Sources said cops were advised to take necessary precautions while on duty.

Covid-19 symptoms

The most common symptoms of the Covid-19 are fever, dry cough, tiredness, aches and pains, sore throat, diarrhoea, conjunctivitis, headache, loss of taste or smell, a rash on skin, or discoloration of fingers or toes. While serious symptoms, include difficulty in breathing or shortness of breath, chest pain or pressure, and loss of speech or movement. The Police Commissioner said, “Seek immediate medical attention if you have any of these symptoms. Always call before visiting your doctor or health facility.” “On average it takes five to six days from the contraction of infection till the virus symptoms show. Early reporting, early testing, early isolation, and proper contact tracing are an important aspect to save human life and prevent the spread of corona,” he added. “Dial 104 for medical help,” he said.
