Ludhiana, March 4
The Ludhiana rural police arrested four persons who were allegedly involved in the smuggling of intoxicating tablets.
The police recovered 1.8 lakh tramadol tablets, Rs2.4 lakh (drug money), Optra and Swift Dzire cars and a bullet motorcycle from the accused.
The accused were identified as Sukhpal Singh, alias Pali, Mandeep Singh of Sangrur, Honey Sehgal of Haibowal Ludhiana and Vishal Anand of Ambala.
Charanjit Singh Sohal, Senior Superintendent of Police, Ludhiana rural, said a team of the CIA staff had arrested Sukhpal on March 1.
A case against Sukhpal Singh, under Sections 22/25/61/85 under the NDPS Act, was registered at the Dakha police station.
“After questioning Sukhpal during investigation, Mandeep Singh of Sangrur district and Honey Sehgal of Haibowal, Ludhiana, were nominated in the case. On the statement of Honey Sehgal, Vishal Anand of Ambala was also nominated in the case and arrested today,” the police said.
Opium recovered
The Ludhiana (Rural) police arrested a man and allegedly recovered 2 kg of opium from him. A case under Section 18 under the NDPS Act was registered against the accused at the Sadar Jagraon police station. The accused have been identified as Rakesh Kumar who belongs to UP. During checking on the Malsihan Bhaike road, the CIA staff of Jagraon arrested Rakesh Kumar and seized 2 kg of opium and Rs14,000 drug money and a mobile phone from the accused, the police said.
