4 new Covid patients in a day

Ludhiana, April 9

A total of four Covid-19 positive cases were reported in Ludhiana district today, taking the number of positive cases in the district up to 10.

The son of the Covid-19 patient, who died recently, has tested positive in his second test. The woman was the first person to die of Covid-19 in the district.

Her son had tested negative in the first test. The doctors decided to run a second test on him as they wondered how he could not contract infection from his mother.

Meanwhile, a 24-year-old man caught for theft by the Focal Point police has tested positive for Covid-19. All 17 policemen and the judge who came in contact with the thief have been quarantined.

Another positive case is a 15-year-old nephew of the Covid patient from Chowkiman who took part in the Tablighi Jamaat gathering in Delhi.

The fourth positive case is from Ramgarh village, Jagraon. The villagers had informed the police about the 32-year-old man who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat in Delhi. He was sent to the local hospital on April 7.

Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal, while replying to a question related to alleged ill-treatment meted out to a woman patient at Civil Hospital, Ludhiana, and Christian Medical College and Hospital a few days ago, after which she had to be admitted to a private hospital, said the Civil Surgeon, Ludhiana, had been asked to conduct an inquiry into the matter within 48 hours. He said the Civil Surgeon had formed a committee that was inquiring into the matter, and departmental action would be taken against officials and doctors found guilty.

Report of Barnala woman who died at city hospital comes out positive

The report of 52-year-old patient from Barnala, who died at Fortis Hospital here on Wednesday, has come out positive. The report was received on Thursday. Dr Rajesh Bagga, Civil Surgeon, said the woman had complained of high fever and breathing difficultly for the past around seven days. “She died yesterday and her body was kept in mortuary. The sample was sent yesterday and the report came out to be positive for Covid-19 today,” he said.
