Ludhiana, November 23

The police claimed to have arrested four women allegedly involved in stealing jackets from a shop in Gandhi Nagar here recently.

The accused were identified as Pinki (30), Rajni (40), Kapila (30), residents of Barnala, and Payal (25), a resident of Patiala. The police further claimed to have recovered 25 stolen jackets from their possession. The accused had visited Ludhiana from Patiala for theft.

Cops said the women had allegedly stolen jackets from the Ajay Garments store in Gandhi Nagar. Following the complaint filed by the store owner, a case under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC was registered on November 18 at the division number 4 police station.

ADCP Deepak Pareek said they checked the CCTV cameras in the area and the women were captured on various cameras. He said the interrogation of the women was under way and they were hopeful of getting more information during the questioning.

As per information, the police arrested them on Sunday when they came to a market to sell the jackets. Cops said no previous case was found to be registered against the women, but they would check the records of various police stations.
