5 cops dismissed for corruption

Tribune News Service

Ludhiana, November 26

Ludhiana Police Commissioner Rakesh Agrawal dismissed five policemen, including four of the rank of assistant sub inspector (ASI) and a constable, on corruption charges today.

The cops were facing cases of corruption and during the review of their records, the CP issued their dismissal orders.

The dismissed cops are Rajinder Singh, Mahinder Singh, Sarabjit Singh, Sukhbeg Singh and Tarsem Chand.

The CP added that these policemen had faced corruption cases registered through the Vigilance Department about two years ago. "I had been reviewing such cases and I found these cops involved in corrupt practices, hence they have been dismissed from service. The Ludhiana police have adopted zero-tolerance against corruption and if in future, any cop is found involved in corrupt practices, he/she will face the consequences," said the CP.

The dismissed cops were presently posted in the city police.

CP said further review of such cases is also on and no corrupt cop will be spared.
