The Ludhiana (rural) police claimed to have nabbed five persons who were booked under various sections of the NDPS Act on Saturday evening.
Habit-forming tablets and three two-wheelers were seized from the possession of the suspects, identified as Davinder Singh Veeru of Katcha Qila Raikot, Gurmit Singh Ravi of Raikot, Parminder Singh Janta of Kutba Gate, Raikot, Tushar Kumar Honey of Buraj Hari Singh village and Karamvir Singh Karmi of Eidgah Road, Raikot.
SHO, Raikot city, Gursewak Singh, said police officials deployed at Barnala Chowk under supervision of investigating officer Jaspal Kaur had received a tip-off that prime suspect Davinder Singh Veeru had been involved in the illicit trade of drug trafficking for a long time and he was selling habit-forming tablets to his customers at a nearby deserted tube well.
The suspects were arrested with the habit-forming tablets during a raid by the police at the tube well room in the fields situated near Barnala Chowk.
