As many as 752 youths from localities falling under Ahmedgarh and Malerkotla subdivisions were registered during the first job fair of the segment held at Grain Market at Malerkotla. 644 aspirants were selected for immediate employment, while the other aspirants were chosen for skill training.
Continuing their endeavor to provide gainful employment to maximum number of unemployed youth, the Sangrur district administration organised fifth job fair of the district. The event was one of the six job fairs being held under the supervision of Sangrur Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori under Ghar Ghar Rozgar Yojna of the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh.
The event began with the formal condemnation of the recent Pulwama suicide bomber militant attack in which forty CRPF Jawans were killed.
Appreciating the role played by officials led by Ahmedgarh SDM Vikramjeet Singh Panthey and SDM Malerkotla Charandeep Singh in acting as a bridge between unemployed youths and the employers, DC Ghanshyam Thori claimed that 2,751 unemployed youths have since been provided gainful employment in the district under the scheme till now.
“Besides facilitating appointments of eligible candidates, we have also been coordinating for self-employment of those who could not be adjusted at participating establishments. As many as 83 youths were counseled for self-employment during the Malerkotla fair,” said Thori.
Over 1,700 youth placed at job fair
Ludhiana: More than 150 companies participated and recruited youth during the sub-division level job fair held at Government Institute of Textile Chemistry and Knitting Technology, Rishi Nagar, Ludhiana, and at Gulzar Group of Institutes, Khanna.
At Ludhiana, 1,706 unemployed youngsters were selected by various companies, while at Khanna, more than 2,400 youth participated in the event. Under the Ghar Ghar Rozgar Yojana of the Punjab Government, a total of seven sub-division level job fairs were organised in Ludhiana district.
DC Pradeep Kumar Agrawal said out of 2,529 youth, 1,706 were selected by various firms. He said apart from Ludhiana-based companies, representatives of firms from other part of the state also participated in the job fairs.—TNS
