Ludhiana, January 22

As many as 939 persons tested positive for Covid, while seven patients lost their lives to the virus in the district today.

The deceased are six men and a woman belonging to Jagraon, Daba Road, Ghangas, Model House, GTB Nagar and Rahon Road, who were admitted to different hospitals.

A total of 1,03,578 persons have tested positive for the virus since March 2020, while 2,170 persons from the district have succumbed to the virus till now.

The recovery rate of Covid-19 patients today rose to 90.49 per cent. Today there were 7,676 active cases in the district and 7,440 patients were asked to isolate themselves at their homes by the Health Department.

At present there are 358 patients admitted to various private and government hospitals. Out of these 236 patients belong to Ludhiana district, while 122 are from other districts.

Till date, a total of 31,20,202 samples for Covid test have been taken, of which 30,03,083 were found negative.

Samples of 7,466 suspected patients were sent for testing today and their results are expected shortly.
