LUDHIANA: A 70-year-old man identified as Onkar Nath Rai went missing under mysterious circumstances. His son has been doing all to trace his father.



LUDHIANA: A 70-year-old man identified as Onkar Nath Rai went missing under mysterious circumstances. His son has been doing all to trace his father. Ashutosh Rai, a resident of Vishawkarma colony, said his father had gone to pay obeisance at a temple near their house on April 27, but did not return home. He added that his father was not mentally fit and he used to forget the house address whenever he would go out. Many a time, people in the area used to drop him home, he added. “I searched for him at various places, including bus stand, railway station and even at hospitals. For the past few days, I have been visiting the Civil Hospital’s mortuary as well to inquire about my father,” the victim’s son said. Ashutosh said he had submitted a complaint at the Police Division 6 where it was registered in the daily dairy. The police have assured that they would circulate the photo of his father at police stations across the state, he added. TNS

Food samples collected

Ludhiana: A food team comprising designated officer Dr Andesh Kang and food safety officer Yogesh Goyal seized the premises of packaged drinking water unit running without proper documents near Karnail Singh Nagar, Sua Road, Ludhiana. About 1,800 boxes (24 glasses of 200 ml) were seized by the department officials. The team has taken total seven samples in the past two days. From a Ferozepur Road restaurant, samples of cheese, dough and fat spread were taken. Besides, the team took samples of cheese and curd from a sweet shop. All samples have been sent to a food lab at Kharar and action will be taken as per the report. The food team also conducted a meeting with hoteliers and restaurant owners today regarding hygiene.
