74 lakh drug users in Punjab: NCB

There are 74 lakh drug users in the state, with seven lakh of them in the age group of 10 to 17 years. This was stated by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Zonal Director Amanjit Singh while citing the 51st report of the Committee of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The NCB official claimed that Punjab was badly in grip of drugs, including heroin, opiods, sedatives and inhalants. Besides, cocaine was also making way into the state, he added.

Amanjit was interacting with mediapersons on the sidelines of the Swadeshi Mela at Punjab Agricultural University.
