The joint efforts of the district administration, police department, agriculture department, HDFC’s CSR brand Parivartan and CII Foundation have led to a significant reduction in stubble burning in Khanna with 75 villages achieving an impressive 95% non-burning status.

SDM Khanna Baljinder Singh Dhillon, who is currently under transfer, shared that non-burning reached about 95% in the current season. “Only two cases were reported-one turned out to be from Fatehgarh sahib and the other a false report with no fire incident,” the SDM shared.

Chief Executive Officer of CII Foundation Sunil Kumar Misra shared that ever since the project started in October 2023, they engaged directly with farmers, gram panchayats and farmer producer organizations (FPOs). “We provided 54 machines to village cooperatives,” he added.
