8 months on, man fails to get daughter’s birth certificate

Despite innumerable visits to the Suvidha Centre here for the past 8 months, Jaipal of Nandpur village has not been able to collect the “corrected” birth certificate of his daughter.

More so, the document is reportedly unavailable at the office because Jaipal has been asked to apply for it again.

The date of birth certificate of Jaipal’s daughter Harman had to be corrected, as demanded by Government School for Girls, Sahnewal.

Jaipal told this correspondent that he had submitted the birth certificate, along with the required documents, to the centre on May 5, 2017, and expected the same to be returned after correction in a month. “Every time I went to the centre to enquire about my corrected document, they demanded one or the other document to be attached along. Whenever I went to the centre, I got the reply that the documents have been sent to the CMO office and the corrected birth certificate has not arrived yet. After 8 months now, I have lost all hope of getting the corrected document,” said Jaipal.

“When I approach the centre now, they say the documents were sent to the CMO office, but they have been misplaced so I should apply afresh for the same. This will be very difficult for me as I had attached the original certificates along. I am fed up and cannot find any way out,” said Jaipal.

Suvidha Centre Controller Gurwinder Singh: “We had deposited the documents to the CMO office. When we enquired from the office, they told us that the documents have been sent back to the centre, but we did not receive any. Since there is no way out, I have asked Jaipal to apply again and the needful shall be done at the earliest. But Now he is not much interested. ”
