802 cases of illicit liquor seized

The Anti-Narcotics Cell of the Ludhiana police in two separate cases recovered 802 cases of illicit liquor from abandoned vehicles.

In the first case, the police had received a tip-off that a truck (PB03 R 5242) belonging to a smuggler, loaded with a huge stock of illicit liquor, was parked in Phase 6, Focal Point. Accordingly, the police conducted a raid and during search, recovered 752 cases of illicit liquor. The police said the details of the truck owner and the truck driver were being inquired and whosoever is found involved would be nominated in the case.

In another raid by the anti-narcotics cell police, the police party acting on the tip-off had laid a naka at Jeevan Nagar Chowk. After intercepting the vehicle (chota hathi) (PB13 T 5636), it was cornered. During search, 50 cases of illicit liquor were recovered. The police said the details of the owner were being sought from the Transport Department and further action would be initiated accordingly.
