Ludhiana, May 30
Nine more persons tested positive for Covid-19 today. Of them, seven are members of the deceased’s family who died at the DMCH yesterday and two are undertrials from Borstal Jail.
A 53-year-old patient from Chowni Mohalla died at the DMCH yesterday. He was shifted from Deep Hospital with high fever and urinary tract infection. He was a diabetic for the past five years.
The samples of eight members of the deceased’s family were taken, of which seven tested positive. They have been admitted to the MCH, Vardhman.
Of the two undertrials, one is from Ludhiana and has been booked for attempt to murder. The other one is from Gurdaspur, who is a murder case accused. Both were lodged in the Borstal Jail which is a Covid quarantine jail for the entire state.
Nearly 120 samples were taken from the jail inmates a day before.
Meanwhile, a 64-year-old manager of a tyre firm was discharged from Christian Medical College and Hospital. He was the main source of the chain of 19 patients which included 11 employees and eight members of his family.
A ward boy of the DMCH, who tested positive on May 12, was also discharged today.
Meanwhile, the patient from Hoshiarpur, who died at the DMCH yesterday, tested negative for Covid.
