Ludhiana, August 8

The Jagraon police have started the initiative of plasma donation. Dr Aman Sharma, medical officer, Punjab Police, Ludhiana Rural, motivated nine policemen, who have recovered from Covid-19 and completed 28 days of isolation and are now negative, for the same. On the guidelines of Punjab DGP Dinkar Gupta and under patronage of Ludhiana Rural SSP Vivek Sheel Soni, Dr Sharma has taken blood samples of nine police personnel, mostly from Mullanpur-Dakha police station, and sent these samples to Rajendra Hospital, Patiala, where the first and only blood bank has been established by the state government. Dr Sharma said this would prove as life saving and, of course, a boon to patients of COVID-19 admitted to ICUs of tertiary care hospitals.

“The blood samples of these recovered cases will be tested for presence of antibodies against the virus and that will be fit to transfuse to sick patients,” said Dr Sharma.
