90-day HPV vaccination drive in Ludhiana begins on March 5
Ludhiana administration has finalised arrangements to vaccinate nearly 40,000 girls
The district administration has finalised arrangements to vaccinate nearly 40,000 girls, aged 14 to 15, for the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), officials said, and added that the 90-day vaccination drive will kick off on Thursday.
They said the free-of-cost vaccination drive will be conducted at 19 government health facilities in the district.
All girls, aged 14, are eligible for the drive and will get a single 0.5 ml shot of the HPV vaccine that will administered intramuscularly in the left arm.
The vaccination sites include the District Hospital, sub-divisional hospitals, community health centres, Civil Hospital, and Urban Community Health Centres in Jwaddi and Shimlapuri.
Presiding over a review meeting with all the stakeholders, Poonam Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), asserted that all preparations were in place for a smooth and seamless exercise.
Civil Surgeon Dr Ramandeep Kaur and District Immunisation Officer Dr Harpreet Singh were also present during the meeting.
Officials urged private school associations to extend cooperation for the programme.
Dr Kaur said the necessary vaccine stock has arrived in the district and the health staff received specialised training. Senior medical officers (SMOs) have been appointed as nodal officers to oversee the drive, she added.
