Today, 35 more tested positive for Covid-19, taking the number of cases in the district to the 900 mark. It was on March 24 that first case was reported in the district from the posh locality of Gurdev Nagar.
At present, 180 beds are occupied at the isolation facilities in government hospitals and 91 beds in the private hospitals. There is no ventilator in government hospitals while 31 ventilators are available in private hospitals. Of these, four ventilators at the CMCH have been provided by the government. At present, five patients are on ventilator.
Those who tested positive today include a 27-year-old man from Jagjit Nagar who has a history of foreign travel.
Nine have symptoms of influenza-like Illness. These include a 35-year-old woman from Shivpuri, 70-year-old woman from Ranjodh Park in Haibowal Kalan, 62-year-old man from Rishi Nagar in Haibowal Kalan, 52-year-old man from Aggar Nagar, 43-year-old man from Basant City, 69-year-old man from BRS Nagar, 64-year-old man and 59-year-old woman from Sarabha Nagar and a 61-year-old man from Dhillon Nagar, Lohara.
Two health care workers, one from Anand Vihar in Phullanwal village and another from Vijay Nagar at Miller Ganj, also tested positive.
The others who tested positive are contacts of positive patients and belong to Iqbal Ganj Chowk, Maya Nagar, Habib Ganj, Ram Nagar, Moti Nagar, Sector 38, Fatehgarh Mohalla, Phase I of Dugri, Inderprasth Nagar in Haibowal Kalan and Vijay Nagar.
Today, 212 people were sent to home quarantine. There are 444 active cases in the district at present.
Meanwhile, a 60-year-old woman from Sangrur succumbed to Covid at Christian Medical College and Hospital. She was also suffering from hepatitis B, pneumonia and high blood pressure.
