Acid attack victim’s father gets threat call

While the police are searching for the persons who threw acid on a 25-year-old girl at Puneet Nagar on Thursday, her father has stated that he received a threat call from an unknown caller the very next day.

The caller warned the girl’s father against marrying her with the guy with whom she got engaged a few days ago.

The moment the police got to know about the threat call, the IT cell was roped in to find the address of the phone number from which the call was made. However, it was found that the call was made from a public call office (PCO) situated near Samrala Chowk.

The police questioned the PCO owner but nothing incriminating was found against him.

Additional DCP-IV Rajvir Singh said the girl was attacked on November 15. The next morning, the girl’s father received a call. The caller, who did not identify himself, warned him that if he (father) wanted to see his daughter happy, he should cancel her proposed marriage.

When the girl’s father asked the caller that why he threw acid on his daughter, the caller said he did not throw acid on his daughter and wanted her to live happily.

“It is quite possible that the person who called the acid attack victim’s father could be the main accused or he may be associated with the accused. We are checking footage of CCTV cameras installed in the area around the PCO,” said the ADCP.

“I cannot recall or identify the person who made a call to the girl’s father. Several persons visit here to make phone calls. It is not possible for me to identify all of them. I can only recall the time when the said call was made,” the PCO owner told the police.
