The Public Action Committee (PAC) raised objections to a recent public notice issued by the Municipal Corporation (MC) regarding the proposed Water+ certification under the Swachh Bharat Mission.

In a statement, the committee alleged the notice lacked basic details such as an email ID or phone number, making it difficult for residents to submit objections. It also pointed out the notice was not uploaded on the MC’s official website, calling it a sign of non-transparent functioning.

The PAC demanded that the notice be reissued with complete information and that the deadline for submissions be extended.

MC officials, however, said the necessary corrections had already been made.

Harpreet Singh, Senior Engineer, said, “We have already rectified it all and the notice was issued again in the newspapers with proper email ID and phone number. It was also updated on the website.”

The committee also questioned the city’s eligibility for the certification, claiming it did not meet the key condition of zero untreated wastewater discharge.
