Ludhiana, October 22
After almost three months, Ludhiana district today finally saw no death due to Covid-19. Earlier, no one had succumbed to the virus on July 11. It was on March 30 that the first death due to Covid was reported from the city. A 42-year-old woman from Amarpura was the first fatality from the district. The highest number of 18 deaths in the district were reported on August 31.
Today, 43 Covid cases were reported in the district out of which 10 were referred from various OPDs, 24 from flu corners, three were contacts of positive persons and tracing of three was still under process.
The Ludhiana Civil Surgeon, Dr Rajesh Bagga, said, “With much efforts it has been possible to bring the Covid curve down. Since the festival season is here, people should not have a callous approach towards the pandemic. They should take all necessary precautions and avoid crowded places.”
The Ludhiana Deputy Commissioner, Varinder Sharma, said, “Whenever the district administration and the Health Department finds any positive or suspected Covid patient, his/her samples are immediately sent for testing.”
Sharma appealed to residents to follow all directions and stay indoors.
