Agriculture varsity organises camp on soil, water testing

The Department of Extension Education, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organised a training camp on “Soil and Water Testing” at Chak Battain village in Ludhiana district. Around 50 farmers and farm women participated in the programme, held in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Ludhiana.

The camp was organised under the ICSSR-funded project titled “Waste to Resource: Treated Wastewater Irrigation Management System for Sustainable Agriculture under One Health Approach in Punjab.”

Dr Lakhwinder Kaur, principal investigator of the project, discussed its objectives and stressed the importance of soil and water testing. She also introduced the participants to the PAU Kisan App and the digital newspaper Kheti Sandesh, encouraging them to utilise these services for up-to-date agricultural information.

She advised farm women to form self-help groups (SHGs) to supplement their family incomes and improve their socio-economic status.
