Kewal Krishan Bansal chaired the meeting, and ICICI Bank manager Rajneesh Kumar was the guest of honour.

Vikas Krishan Sharma said, “In case any of you or members of your families feel difficulty in reaching congested offices and getting any official work done, you can call the officials concerned to the lounge prepared for your comfortable stay at the MC office.” He added officials at wings had been advised to give senior citizens due respect.

Having heard problems faced by the elderly in the town, Sharma announced a special corner would be established at the Municipal Library exclusively for senior citizens and civic amenities would be strengthened at various parts of the town.

Acknowledging the genuineness of issues raised by retired bank personnel, Sharma assured them the process for repairing roads and streets had already been initiated. “We understand that potholes can be riskier for the elderly. Though proposals for the construction of roads at an estimated cost of Rs 6 crore are in the pipeline, we have advised the authorities concerned to undertake patchwork on roads where construction work may be delayed.”
