Doraha, October 25
The Araichan road of Doraha, leading towards the Grand Trunk road, is ever in a pitiable condition. With the passage of time, the road has degenerated to the extent that it has resulted in slip discs and even fractures among commuters.
The road is daily taken by thousands of vehicles. Due to the absence of any re-carpeting, coupled with poor maintenance, the condition of the road has worsened and is no less than a death trap, especially for two-wheelers that ply in huge numbers on the stretch.
“The road has degenerated so much that nowadays the commuters have to change the route to reach their destinations safely. The big potholes have made travelling for two-wheelers next to impossible,” rued a resident of Doraha.
Work to begin soon

Although the road serves as a major link between Doraha and the surrounding villages, no attention has been paid to improve it. As Doraha serves as a major visiting hub for people of Kaddon, Kotli, Payal, Bija, Chawa, Rajgarh, Doraha villages etc, the road is taken up by villagers as a matter of routine.
The broken dusty stretch has reduced the life of the shoppers and shopkeepers to a virtual hell. The residents and the road users complain that it is a very uncomfortable ride, especially at some specific places. The rainy season plays further havoc with the commuters, especially two-wheelers. The problem is aggravated at night with reduced visibility and poor judgment.
“Now during the harvesting season, huge trolleys taking this road, has made the residents and commuters full of anger,” said a villager.
Several times has the issue been highlighted through the media, but to no avail. But for temporary patches here and there, no constructive change has taken place all these years.
