Ludhiana, September 12
A meeting of the Punjab Tent Dealers’ Welfare Association was held here today. Addressing the meeting, SS Makkar, president of the Ludhiana chapter of the association, said they were passing through a tough phase due to Covid-19.
“At present, holding of large gatherings are not allowed and due to this, several people have been affected. Tent houses, caterers, printing press, photographers, caterers, decorators, cooks and sweetmeat shop owners, orchestra, people running light and sound business, DJs, florists and fruit and vegetable suppliers have been affected,” he said.
He said at present, only 30 persons were allowed in a gathering and if the government gives permission for around 250-300 people, people associated with such businesses and professions would get some work.
Members of the association said there was a huge rush at airports, railway stations and bus stands but still they were open and social distancing was also maintained.
“If government considers our request and allow 250-300 people, many people will get employment and they will not starve,” he added. — TNS
