Australia-based agripreneurs visit PAU to foster cooperation

Agyakar Singh Grewal, an agripreneur from Mansura village and now based in Melbourne, Australia, visited the Directorate of Extension Education at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) to facilitate international agrarian collaboration. He was accompanied by Gurnam Singh Dhaliwal from Thakarwal village.

“Under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, PAU remains committed to fostering global agripreneurship,” Dr MS Bhullar, Director of Extension Education, said, while meeting the Oz delegation. The PAU team believed in learning from the rich experiences of Punjabi farmers worldwide and in offering them professional support to facilitate mutual growth and agrarian advancements, he added.

Dr TS Dhillon, Additional Director of Extension Education, discussed advanced agronomic practices and mechanisation in vegetables with special focus on garlic cultivation as per recommendations of the PAU. Garlic, a common ingredient in the kitchens of Australia and New Zealand, was the centerpiece of extensive discussions on the garlic value chain, he added.

Besides, Dr Dhillon’s talks focused on cultivation techniques requiring less water, and the potential for product development such as garlic paste, powder, and oil.

The Australia-based Punjabi agripreneurs, led by Agyakar Singh Grewal and Gurmeet Singh Gill, also engaged in discussions on vegetable cultivation with specific emphasis on marketing and food value chain issues.
