The Health Department, Ludhiana, has undertaken various measures and awareness activities to educate people about Covid-19. Moreover, the second wave of the pandemic has become a cause of concern for the government.
Earlier, in the last week of October the Covid-19 cases started declining but, now they have started rising again.
To curb the spread of the virus, the government has issued new guidelines to fight with the second wave. Night curfew has been imposed in the state and fine for not wearing masks has been increased from Rs 500 to Rs 1000.
Dr Rajesh Kumar Bagga, Civil Surgeon, Ludhiana, said the risk of getting Covid-19 are higher in crowded and inadequately ventilated spaces where infected people spend long periods of time together in close proximity.
“I request to all the city people to kindly not to lower their guards and follow the government guidelines strictly. We can only fight with the virus if people will follow the guidelines,” he said.
He said he has instructed the mass education and media wing of the Health Department to curb the second wave. They have been instructed to cover every nook and corner of the city and aware people to take necessary precautions to curb the onset of the second wave of Covid-19.
On the occasion, Harjinder singh, District Mass Education and Information Officer, said it is a matter of concern that people are not paying any heed to the precautionary measures that must be taken in the pandemic.
