 Ludhiana, September 10

Opposing the FIR registered against MLA Simarjit Singh Bains, leaders and supporters of Lok Insaaf Party (LIP) burned an effigy of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Ludhiana today.

The protesting leaders of the LIP accused the Chief Minister of getting a false FIR registered against Bains. They demanded immediate cancellation of the FIR against Bainsn or elese they would intensify their agitation.

While raising slogans against Capt Amarinder Singh, the protesters slapped and kicked the effigy of the Chief Minister several times, before turning it into ashes. The police force was deployed at the DC office to control the law and order situation.

Notably, the Batala police had booked Bains under various Sections of the IPC following the legislator’s altercation with Gurdaspur DC Vipul Ujwal. LIP chief spokesperson Gagandeep Singh, alias Sunny Kainth, said the FIR should be quashed otherwise, they would continue their protest.

“Whenever any common person visits the district administration offices, he/she suffers a lot of harassment. We are surprised that employees of the DC offices are on strike,” he said. — TNS
