Basant Panchami celebrated

LUDHIANA: Khalsa Institute of Management and Technology organised a food fest for on the occasion of Basant Panchami. Students showcased their talent by preparing different dishes, including sweet yellow rice, tikki, poha, chat, gulab jamun, chocolate cakes, muffins, puddings, chocolate balls, Idli and sambhar, among others.

LUDHIANA: Khalsa Institute of Management and Technology organised a food fest for on the occasion of Basant Panchami. Students showcased their talent by preparing different dishes, including sweet yellow rice, tikki, poha, chat, gulab jamun, chocolate cakes, muffins, puddings, chocolate balls, Idli and sambhar, among others. Punjabi dhaba was a limelight of the event. Director, faculty members and students brought eatables from the stalls. Prizes were distributed to the best stalls and Anmol Kaur from BBA won the tag of Miss Basant.

GMT College 

Students of GMT College celebrated Basant Panchami with great fervour under the guidance of Principal Dr Anil Kumar Taneja. Basant Panchmi is celebrated to seek blessings of Goddess Saraswati. Students and teachers came in yellow attire. Inter-house kite flying and flannel board decoration competitions were organised. Staff and students performed dance on the beats of dhol. Kamalpreet Kaur presented her views and highlighted significance of the festival.

Sci-Bration 2019

Khalsa College for Women, Civil Lines, Ludhiana, bagged an overall trophy in inter-college event titled “Sci-Bration 2019: The celebration of science and innovation” organised by Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar. It is for the fourth time that the college has been awarded as the overall winner. Students participated in different events, including “Sci-on stage: Choreography”, “Sci-flora: Plant variety show”, “Food fiesta: Cooking without fuel”, “Sci-creative: Poster presentation contest”, Sci-colours: The rangoli contest” and Sci-bhumika: The fancy dress contest”. The collge students won the first prize in Sci-flora and Sci-creative contests, second prize in Sci-choreography, third prize in fancy dress and food fiesta and consolation prize in Sci-colours. 

Street play on water conservation

The Eco Club of Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan Campus, in collaboration with the Indian People’s Theatre Association (IPTA) presented a “Nukkad Natak” on the theme “Save water, save life”. The show highlighted various issues related to water conservation, including cleanliness of Buddha Nullah. Principal Manjit Kaur Ghuman encouraged and motivated the students to participate in such events.

Girls shine in Biotechnology exams

BSc Biotechnology (Honours) students of Khalsa College for Women brought laurels to the college in the first and fifth semester exams held on December 2018. Nehal topped Panjab University (PU) in first semester by obtaining 419 marks out of 500 whereas Sahibleen Kaur Chadha got 406 marks and stood eighth in the varsity. Eshita Jain of fifth semester scored 451 marks out of 500 and ranked third in the PU. Jaspreet Kaur, Kunjan Grewal and Sukhdeep Kaur stood fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively. 

Students excel in MA-1st Sem exams 

Four students of Khalsa College for Women marked their place in top-10 ranks in MA first semester exams. Heena Jain stood second in the university by obtaining 92 per cent. Annie Jain ranked fifth with 89.5 per cent, Ritika Jain ranked sixth with 89.25 per cent, while Harmanjot Kaur stood ninth with 88.5 per cent. TNS
