Ludhiana: The two-day Ludhiana Sahodaya School Complex Inter-School Basketball Tournament was organised at Doraha Public School on December 8 and 9. In U-19 girls’ category, Doraha Public School defeated Satguru Partap Singh Academy, Sri Bhani Sahib. In U-19 boys’ section Doraha Public School outplayed Gobindgarh Public School, Mandi Gobindgarh. Ridhima Saini of Doraha Public School and Mohit from Gobindgarh Public School were declared as the best players.

Interactive session for teachers

DAV Public School, Pakhowal Road, organised an interactive session for teachers on optimistic approach towards work. Jagdev Singh, founder and director of Kalpataru Career and Solutions, and former scientist at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre of India, was the guest speaker. He highlighted the role of a teacher in shaping smart students. Principal Dr Satwant Kaur Bhullar thanked the guest speaker for sharing his valuable viewpoints with the teachers. He stressed that a teacher must be a learner while teaching students to make learning more effective and students should be active listeners so that their mind retains knowledge forever.

Priniciapl felicitated

Sangeeta Sharma, principal, Om Parkash Bansal Modern School, has been honoured with the Best District Principal Award 2017-18 by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF). The award was bestowed upon her in recognition of her leadership qualities and path breaking initiatives related to the cause of education. Under her visionary leadership, school students performed very well in the SOF Olympiad conducted in 2017-18. Students from more than 45,000 schools from 30 countries registered themselves for the Olympiad.

Students bring laurels

Students of Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town, brought laurels by bagging the overall winner trophy in Ludhiana Sahodaya Schools Group Dance Competition held at GRD Academy. Students ((classes III to V) bagged 1st prize in Punjabi folk dance category. Nursery to Class II students won appreciation prize in Western dance. Students also went to DCM Presidency School, Ludhiana, to participate in Wiztech 2018. Students won first rank in playing with keys and sway presentation. In techno world a students bagged 2nd position and consolation prize in a declamation contest.

Recycling of products highlighted

Little hands and imaginative minds came together in a creative burst of energy in the “Best out of waste competition” organised for tiny tots at BCM Senior Secondary School. Little ones came to school with re-usable materials, including old newspapers, match boxes, clothes, bangles, cartons, ice-creams, used CDs and much more. Winners were given certificates and books were given as a souvenir to the participants by Headmistress of school.

Inter-school French contest

Students of Jatindera Greenfield School, Gurusar Sudhar, participated in an inter-school French language competition organised by VBUZ. Students who ranked first, second and third, respectively were honoured with trophies and certificates. Gursimran Kaur of Class V and Sharnjeet Kaur of Class VIII got the highest marks in Ludhiana. School principal Aneeta Kundra gave away the prizes to the toppers and inspired them to learn the international language. TNS
