BBA student falls off second floor at CT University, dies
She had lost balance while sitting on railing of stairs, says preliminary probe
A BBA 1st year student of CT University in the Jagraon subdivision breathed her last after falling from the second floor of a building on its campus.
Though the exact reason behind the incident was yet to be ascertained, preliminary investigation by the Jagraon Sadar police revealed that the girl, identified as Shabnam Khatoon of the Shavhoor area here, had lost balance while sitting on railing of the stairs. She, along with other classmates, was waiting for the lift when the mishap occurred.
Investigating officer Atma Singh said the police had initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC and further action would be taken on the basis of the post-mortem report, if required.
Davinder Singh, member of the management committee of the university, told mediapersons that the incident occurred before 1 pm and the victim was rushed to a hospital after she fell from the second floor of the building and got injured.
Her parents and siblings were yet to come to terms with the tragedy.
