BCM students bring laurels

LUDHIANA: Students of BCM School have proved their mettle by bagging multiple prizes in various inter-school competitions and competitions organised by the Ludhiana Sahodaya School Complex.

LUDHIANA: Students of BCM School have proved their mettle by bagging multiple prizes in various inter-school competitions and competitions organised by the Ludhiana Sahodaya School Complex. Students participated in the swimming championship, in which they secured seven gold and two silver. Students also clinched third prize in badminton tournament, first prize in drawing competition, second prize in quiz, second prize in poetry recitation and first prize in yoga championship. Besides, students have secured first positions in five categories at the Decorus Art inter-school festival. In the Tandrust Punjab district-level swimming meet, they bagged five gold, four silver and one bronze.

International Youth Day celebrated

International Youth Day was organised at Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, BRS Nagar. A Powerpoint presentation on ‘social media addiction’, which was presented by the students of Class VI to X. The presentation focused on the evil effects of social media on young minds. An inter-class debate competition was also held for students of Class XI and XII on the topic, Social media: A boon or a bane.

Seminar on personality development

A seminar, ‘Personality development under physical education’, was conducted at Guru Nanak Public School, Mullanpur. The resource person for the day was Malwinder Singh Grewal from the physical education department of the host school. He delivered a lecture on how students could develop a positive approach towards developing their personality under physical education. Different types of yogasanas were introduced to students.

Alumni meet at BCM, Basant City

BCM School, Basant City, held its first alumni meet on its campus. Prem Kumar, manager of the school, welcomed the gathering and highlighted the achievements of the school. Alumni re-lived their memories and participated in various activities. Principal JP Singh congratulated the attendees and laid stress on the importance of humility in one’s life. Meanwhile, Teej was celebrated with great enthusiasm on the campus. Anuradha Kumar was the chief guest of the event. Children were dressed in ethnic attire and enjoyed playing on decorated swings.

English group discussion held

To hone communication skills of its students, DAV Public School organised a group discussion in English for Class XI and XII. Around 45 students participated in the competition to deliberate on topics such as ‘abrogation of Section 370 and 35A’, ‘God - a myth of reality’, ‘Is India ready for cashless economy’, ‘Will artificial intelligence take away human jobs’ and ‘social media-impact on human behavior and society’.

Library Day celebrated

Library Day was celebrated at BCM Senior Secondary School, Focal Point. Students of Class V and VI participated activities such as story-telling, book review and book cover-making. Winners were awarded by the principal. The day was celebrated with the aim to inculcate reading habits in students. 

Inter-school declamation contest

To keep students abreast with the issue of water abuse, the 13th inter-school declamation and poster-making contest was held at RS Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar. The competition aimed to promote effective public-speaking skills.

Shabad Gyaan Competition

Guru Nanak International Public School, Model Town, organised a Shabad gyaan competition for students of Classes VI to VIII to mark the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. Students recited shabads from the teachings and life history of Guru Nanak Dev.

Plantation drive organised

A plantation drive was organised at Spring Dale Public School with a view to sensitise students to go green and save earth. The plantation was dedicated to the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. Avinash Kaur Walia, managing director of school, took this initiative and urged others to plant more trees. 

Inter-house dance competition

An inter-house dance competition was organised at Darshan Academy for students of Class VI to  XII on the theme, Hum Hain Hindustani. Through this competition, students conveyed the message of love for one’s country. A fusion of classical and western music, presented by Sourav and Akash of Class XII, stole the heart of audience. Darshan house claimed first position, Sawan house came second and third position was grabbed by Kirpal House. TNS
