In this regard, the Sahnewal police had registered a case against the accused under Section 302 of the IPC on November 10, 2019.

According to the prosecution, on November 10, when SI Baldev Singh, along with a police team, was present at Eastman Chowk, Dhandari Kalan, they received information about the murder of a woman.

They reached the scene, where the complainant, Tilak Raj, a resident of Chanderi Khurd village, reported that on November 8, 2019, a man and a woman had approached him for taking a room on rent. The woman identified herself as Sheela Devi while the man as Suresh Kumar Chaudhary.
