Ludhiana, March 23

The body of a Bihar youth was found in a field at Bagga Kalan village in Ladhowal on Saturday morning. The police said it was a case of murder as his body was found with hands and legs tied with a rope.

The deceased was identified as Jari Lal (25), who was residing along with his brother Kundan Kumar in a rented accommodation at Dr Ambedkar Nagar here.

Kundan said Jari, who was differently abled but an expert in making handicrafts, had been missing since March 11. "Around 4.30 pm on March 11, my brother told me that he was going somewhere and would return at night. Around 9 pm, he called me to tell that he would reach home within half an hour, but he didn't and his phone remained switched off thereafter,” said Kundan.

Someone noticed the body on Saturday morning and informed the police.

The police said Jari could have been murdered on March 11 itself somewhere else and his body must have been dumped in the field. The deceased's face was half burnt. The police said his kin identified the body from his shoes and clothes.

A murder case has been registered and the investigation is underway.
