Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) councillor Bhavnit Kaur on Tuesday raised serious concerns over sanitation and administrative functioning while meeting Municipal Corporation (MC) Commissioner Neeru Katyal Gupta at the Zone D office in Sarabha Nagar.

Highlighting the situation in Ward 79, she alleged despite around 10 sanitation workers being officially deputed in the area, none were reporting for duty. She said the absence of staff had led to a sharp decline in cleanliness, leaving streets and residential lanes in a neglected condition.

MC Commissioner Gupta said she has sought a report regarding the issue. “I have directed the officials concerned to check why sanitation employees were absent and submit a report,” she added.

Kaur also questioned the monitoring mechanism of the MC. She said it needs to be examined how the attendance of absent workers was being marked and salaries released regularly.
