Ludhiana, January 14
BJP leader Gurdip Singh Gosha has submitted a complaint to the Commissioner of Police (CP) regarding threat calls he has been receiving since yesterday.
Talking to The Tribune, Gosha said he had recording the “threat” call too.
“Since yesterday, I have been getting life-threatening calls and messages. I got a call from Mandip Singh, who claimed to be a resident of Europe and said it would be better if I did not support the BJP, the party which I have joined recently, or hold any rally in its favour. I tried to call back on the numbers from which I received calls but they are unknown numbers. I have submitted a complaint to the police for necessary action. If anyone thinks that such calls would dampen my spirit to support the BJP, then they (the callers) are mistaken. I have worked hard when I was in the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and now when my loyalties are with the BJP, I will support it to work for the betterment of the state and Sikhs,” Gosha said.
Gosha had loyalties with the SAD for many years but recently he had joined the BJP as, he alleged, it was the party, that would bring a ‘New Punjab’ - the Punjab which will progress, be drug-free and show unity among religions.
Yesterday, the BJP leader had convened a press conference along with party leaders, who had formally welcomed him into the party fold.
