Chaos erupted late on Saturday evening on the rear side of Pahwa Hospital, Industrial Area-B, here when a fire broke out following a boiler explosion at Ajit Cycle Factory. During the incident, foreman Rajit Ram Verma (60), who was working in the factory, died.

On receiving information, the fire brigade and a police team reached the scene. ACP Satwinder Singh surveyed the accident site.

According to sources, the factory, Ajit Cycle Parts, has been operating in Matharu Gali for quite some time. Around 7.30 on Saturday evening, Rajit Ram Verma was working inside and it was during this time that a boiler exploded in the factory. Before Verma could understand anything, a fire broke out.

The accident was so horrific that Rajit died on the spot. On receiving information, the fire brigade team also reached the place and began operation to extinguish the fire. The Ludhiana police and the fire brigade team are investigating the cause behind the accident.
