BVM carrom players reach state level

Ludhiana: Carrom players of BVM, Udham Singh Nagar, have qualified for state-level championship after their victory in the district carrom championship, organised by the SGFI, and held at BVM, Kitchlu Nagar. As many as 30 players participated in the championship and won 20 gold and 10 silver medals in the U-14, U-17 and U-19 (boys and girls) categories. Of the 30, 13 students have been selected to represent the school at state-level championship. Another achievement was recorded by Chinmmay Sood of Class VI and Ishant Batra of Class IX by exhibiting a brilliant performance in the Discovery School Super League 2019 organised by Byju’s. They have qualified for Category 2 and will represent the school at state level. This contest provides a unique platform to students where they are adjuged on the parameters of their critical thinking and aptitude.

Students hold road-safety rally

To sensitise residents to road safety and creating a pollution-free zone, a public awareness rally on management of traffic was organised students of Class IX and X of BCM Arya Model Senior Secondary School, Shastri Nagar, under the project ‘Artificial intelligence-enabled traffic management’. Students and teachers covered the routes from the school to Krishna Mandir Market holding banners and placards. During the rally, they distributed pamphlets to people, interacted with them and got survey forms related to traffic control filled.

Trip to Sultanpur Lodhi Sahib

Guru Nanak Public School, Mullanpur, organised a trip to Sultanpur Lodhi with the aim to motivate students to follow the teachings of Guru, and to mark the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. Students visited gurdwara Ber Sahib, gurdwara Hatt Sahib and gurdwara Bebe Nanki Ji.

Lecture on political affairs

BCM School, Chandigarh Road, organised a expert lecture on political system of India and Nigeria for students of Classes IX and X. Students were provided with information on political affairs between India and Nigeria. 

Workshop on happy classroom

A one-day training programme for teachers of the chain of Green Land schools was held at Green Land Senior Secondary Public School, Jalandhar Bypass, to keep teachers abreast with the latest strategies to manage the 21st century classroom. The workshop on topic of happy classroom and stress-free environment was conducted by educationist N Madhuri Parti. She highlighted solutions for engaging curious minds in the classrooms. Almost 450 teachers and principals participated in the seminar.

Rallying for pollution-free diwali

Delhi World Public School joined hands with FICCI Ladies Organisation to create awareness about eco-friendly Diwali. The members of the organisation told students the importance of green and eco-friendly Diwali. An activity, in which students made organic seed balls, was conducted.

Students of Police DAV bring laurels

Students of Police DAV Public School, Police Lines, Civil Lines, brought laurels to the school by achieving merit positions in the National Financial Literacy Test (NFLAT). A total of 213 students of Class VI to XII participated in the test, of which, 54 students achieved merit positions. Principal Anu Verma congratulated students for their achievement.

Students attend adventure camp

An overnight camp was organised by Asia’s largest adventure programme, Rocksport, at Manav Rachna International School for students of nursery to Class XI. The programme challenged the participants physically, emotionally and intellectually through age appropriate in-house and outdoor activities such as zorbing, commando crawl, survival shelter making, mowgli walk, and treasure hunt. Students were awarded a participation certificate after the completion of the programme.

Kids’ carnival organised

Atam Devki Niketan, Kidwai Nagar, organised the Ludhiana Sahodaya Schools Complex (LSSC) kids’ carnival on the theme of national and international diversity on the campus. Around 500 students from 25 schools of LSSC West participated. The celebrations commenced with recitation of Gayarti Mantra. TNS
