Ludhiana: BVM (Udham Singh Nagar) celebrated Raksha Bandhan and the Sanskrit Diwas online with fervor and enthusiasm on Sunday. Girls prepared beautiful rakhis using silken threads, ribbons, beads and colourful tassels while boys made ‘thank you cards ‘to express their gratitude towards their loving sisters. A mellifluous song sung by Sharanya Tiwari (VD) and Gauri Tiwari (ll-C) exhibited eternal love bond between brother and sister. Expressing her thoughts, Karamdeep Kaur (lX) apprised one and all of the significance of the festival which strengthens the ties between brothers and sisters, whereas Janvi Rawat recited a beautiful poem on the occasion. Astha Grover showed the importance of Sanskrit, the language of the Vedas and Puranas through a mesmerising song.

BVM, Kitchlu Nagar

Students of BVM, Kitchlu Nagar, conveyed their gratitude and extended wishes to frontline warriors fighting against coronavirus while participating in rakhi and greeting card making competitions. The students boycotted Chinese rakhis and shared their best part by portraying their artistic perspectives in making of rakhies for their family members during the online classes. Principal Neelam Mittar congratulated and advised the students to put safety and health on priority as precaution was the only protection to ensure safety from Covid during celebrations of festivals.

Drishti Dr RC Jain IP School

Many things have changed during the Raksha Bandhan due to Covid-19 but the spirit and love of brothers and sisters for each other has become stronger. Keeping this spirit in mind, Drishti Dr RC Jain Innovative Public School organised a rakhi-making competition. Topaz house hosted the event in which students participated with zeal and enthusiasm. It showcased their creativity. The students used waste material and eco -friendly material to prepare beautiful rakhis. Students from all four houses — Topaz, Sapphire, Ruby and Emerald — competed with each other under three categories — III-V Category A, VI-VIII Category B, IX-XII Category C. First position in Category A (III-V) is bagged by Dyraya Jain of 3rd std.from Ruby house, followed by second position by Gitarth Jain of 3rdstd.from Topaz house and the third position went to Navreet Kaur of 4th std.from Emerald house. In Category B (VI-VIII), the first position was won by Deepika and second position by Harmanjot. The third position was bagged by Anisha. In Category C (IX-XII), Mishti got the first prize whereas the second position was won by Vishavjot. The third position went to Pavitpahul. Principal Gauri appreciated the creativity of students.

SDP Senior Secondary School

On the eve of Raksha Bandhan, a rakhi-making online competition was organised on the premises of SDP Senior Secondary School, Hazuri Road, to enthuse fondly feelings towards girls and sisters. In the competition, students participated online and exhibited their creativity by preparing wonderful rakhis by using waste material. Balraj Kumar Bhasin, president, congratulated students and teachers. Students who were declared winners in different categories include — junior group: Birender (first), Golu (second), Aman Moriya (third). Consolation prizes were given to Dev Rishi and Hemant; senior group: Vishu and Mayank (first), Simranjot (second), Karanpreet Singh (third). Aas Mohammad got the consolation prize.

Darshan Academy, Ludhiana

Darshan Academy, Ludhiana, organised an online talk with doctor for students and parents of primary and pre-primary wing on Wednesday. Mehak Bansal, paediatrician and critical care specialist at SPS Hospital, Ludhiana, who was the resource person, shared causes and prevention of Covid-19 through Google Meet. TNS
