Ludhiana, July 16

Chairman, Northern India Regional Council (NIRC) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Pankaj Periwal on Monday said the Income Tax survey was conducted on the premises located at 646-A, Malerkotla House, Civil Lines, on companies namely Thapar Herbs and Spices Pvt. Ltd and Insing Real estate Pvt. Ltd, which had shown his (Periwal’s) office as their address long time ago. Since the address belonged to his firm SS Periwal and Co., it was mistaken that surveys were conducted on Periwal’s premises.

Periwal said neither he, nor any of his partners, are associated with the said firm in any capacity, except that the companies were old clients. “They were my clients about 10 years ago and I have got nothing to do with them. The IT sleuths wanted to get details about those companies and since they had given the particular address, the sleuths came here. The surveys were not conducted on me,” he said.
