Canada murder: Influencer’s mother blames gurdwara associates
Social media influencer Nancy Grewal was killed outside her house in Canada
Two days after the murder of social media influencer Nancy Grewal outside her house in Canada, her mother Chhinder Pal Kaur on Thursday alleged the crime was the “handiwork” of people associated with a gurdwara there.
Kaur said, “I got a call from Canada at 6 pm on March 3, informing me that Nancy had been attacked. My other daughter, living in Jalandhar, and I kept trying to get more information, contacting everyone knew till past midnight and our worst fears came true. We were told that she was no more.”
“I was apprehensive that this could happen as she had been speaking fearlessly against several people on her social media accounts,” she added.
In recent times, the victim had spoken out on social media against Gurinder Dhillon, head, Dera Radha Soami Satsang Beas, and Akal Takht jathedars.
“She had put out a series of videos against some wrongdoings in a Canadian gurdwara. She got cameras installed in the gurdwara. I suspect that three of four of these people were involved in the murder. They had earlier tried to set her house on fire as well,” she alleged.
Kaur said she often tried to convince her daughter against levelling allegations.
“Nancy had been asking me to join her in Canada. I tried to get a ticket in February, but she asked to me wait for some time because of the war-like situation. I did not expect that I would never be able to meet her again. I will go back at the earliest as I have to fight to get justice for her. I have provided some leads to the Canadian police,” the grieving mother added.
