Family members of gangster Sagar Newton, who recently died at the PGI in Chandigarh, today carried out a candlelight march, demanding justice for his death.

While carrying out the march, they raised slogans against the Punjab Government and blamed Sangrur jail officials for Sagar’s death. They demanded that an inquiry be conducted into the mysterious death of Sagar by the CBI or any other credible agency so that the truth behind his death could be revealed.

They also said that if the Punjab Police or the state government did not serve justice, they would intensify their agitation.

Notably, on February 5, a large number of supporters of Sagar had blocked the Ferozepur road by placing his body on the road. The protest had lasted over an hour, and traffic movement was affected.
